Event: Phragmites in Norfolk – What Can be Done

Janice Gilbert is a wetlands ecologist with the Long Point Phragmites Action Alliance, with which NFN is associated. Phragmites is also known as European Common Reed. Janice will speak about this incredibly invasive species that is infecting about 40% of Long Point Marsh and the efforts being made to mitigate its spread and take back the marsh.

Meetings

Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at the Simcoe Recreation Centre, Norfolk Room. Doors open at 7:15 p.m. and the program begins at 7:30 p.m.

Field Events

Various field outings are also planned throughout the year, and include trips to local conservation areas, bird banding, winter tree identification and much more. Field outings are free of charge.
